The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources is preparing to organize and launch the first edition of Libyan National Olive Day, scheduled to take place on November 15, 2026.

The event is envisioned as an annual national occasion dedicated to highlighting Libya’s olive sector, strengthening the position of Libyan olive products, and creating new opportunities for sector development, investment, marketing, and exports.

The event will be held under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, while the United International Company for Exhibitions and Conferences will undertake the organization and implementation of the event as part of an integrated approach aimed at establishing a national platform that brings together all stakeholders across the olive value chain.

The event will bring together farmers, olive mills, companies involved in production, packaging and processing, scientific and research institutions, financial institutions, investors, buyers, distributors, and other stakeholders in the sector.

As one of the key components of the event, the National Libyan Olive and Olive Oil Award will be launched to encourage producers to improve quality standards, promote excellence and competitiveness, and support the adoption of best practices in olive and olive oil production.

The first edition of Libyan National Olive Day will feature a comprehensive program including the National Libyan Olive Exhibition, National Olive Forum, Economic and Scientific Conference, Business and Export Forum, International Buyers Program, Scientific Day, and the National Olive Village, in addition to a dedicated national media and digital campaign to promote the sector and its products.

The event aims to support the olive sector as one of the promising sectors capable of contributing to economic diversification and the growth of non-oil exports, while also improving quality standards, encouraging value-added industries, and promoting the utilization of olive by-products and processing waste.

The selection of November 15 as Libyan National Olive Day is intended to mark the beginning of the olive harvesting and pressing season in Libya, reflecting the deep agricultural, cultural, and economic significance of the olive tree in the country.

The event is expected to serve as an annual platform for connecting producers, investors, buyers, distributors, researchers, and relevant institutions, creating opportunities for new partnerships and supporting market access, exports, and the sustainable development of Libya’s olive sector.
